Our Beliefs
Where We Come From
Scappoose Foursquare is affiliated with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, a fellowship of Christian churches reaching over 143 nations and totaling 35,000+ churches. Scappoose Foursquare Church began in 1987 under the pastoring of Wayne and Lori Mayo. They originally met in the house which is now located directly behind our church building. In 1993, Rick and Bobbi Hass served as pastors. The church body then met in a building on Oak Street in Scappoose. Daniel and Joy Schmoll came to the church as youth and worship leaders in the fall of 2001. They took over as senior pastors in 2002. This last winter, the church moved to our present facility on JP West Road in Scappoose.
Who We Are
We are a group of Christians that have a calling to see the transforming power of God change us, our friends and family, and our community. Our focus is not on religion, but on loving God and others. Therefore, we are committed to supporting each other to grow in our knowledge and love for Jesus Christ. We purposefully structure our church leadership to have integrity and accountability. We also believe in diversity within the church, where young and old, new believers and mature Christians, can worship hand in hand. First and last, we are thankful for God's love and strive to show His love to others.
Our Desire
Glorify God - Exalting the Lord through a lifestyle of praise, worship, prayer, giving of our time and resources to the Lord.
Equip people - Through biblical teaching, discipleship, and ministry enable people to fulfill the purposes of God for their lives.
Advance the Gospel - We are committed to advancing the kingdom of God through the church in our families, our communities, nation, and throughout the world.
Our Mission
We desire to lead people of all ages to Christ, and develop them into devoted disciples by helping them to know Christ, live for Christ, and share Christ.
Jesus said, "And on this rock I will build my church." We believe that God is calling the church to be relevant to our culture. As God builds His church, communities are changed. He established the church to be a community of believers, a family in unity, and God's instrument to extend His purposes on earth.
